These are photos from Hawai'i's Big Island. Unfortunately April was taking a CME and had classes every day that we were there. We rented a car and were able to view most of the island. We missed out on South Point's Green Beach and one of the better waterfalls. The first two rows of photos are pictures of birds at the hotel and then pictures of Kaupulehu Beach and a couple of green sea turtles we saw there. This was on the west side of the island that doesn't get as much rain and where most of the resort areas are located. The last two photos on row two and the first three on row three are pictures from Keokea Beach. This appears to be mainly a local haunt and is located at the extreme northern end of the island. The last two pictures on this row as well as all of rows four and five and the first photo on row six are all of Pololu Valley and the beach at the bottom of the trail. The hike was quite strenuous, but certainly worth the effort. This valley was a little east of the previous beach. The remainder of row six are pictures of Waipio Valley. We arrived too late to hike to the bottom of the falls, but we did see the very endangered Hawaiian owl fly by. We also saw some nenes, Hawaiian geese, while driving, but were unable to photograph either type of bird. The first three pictures on row seven are from Punaluu Beach. This is a black sand beach where leatherback turtles nest. We didn't see any turtles there though. The remainder of the pictures were all taken at the Volcano Park including the lava sea arch. There was some magma, but it was too far away to get any decent pictures.
